The Irish Guild of Weavers Spinners and Dyers is delighted to be hosting Team WeaveSpinDyeIE in this year’s Tour de Fleece spin-along.

What is the Tour de Fleece?

Every year spinners around the world take part in a Ravelry driven event that coincides with the Tour de France. This year it starts Saturday 1 July and runs to Sunday 23 July 2017.

For the first time in the IGWSD’s history, the Committee is launching it’s first Tour de Fleece themed spin along.  We need participants for Team WeaveSpinDyeIE to make its debut on the Tour.

As the cyclists of the Tour de France spin their bicycle wheels, our team of spinners will be spinning their wheels and drop spindles.

I know my summer is in full spin once the Tour de Fleece launches and my drop spindle becomes an egocentric tool for the month.

I love this yearly spin along since it is the one time in the year when I take on my fibre stash and spin it around and magically turn it into artisan handspun.
