Guidelines for the Exhibition 2025

GUIDELINES FOR THE EXHIBITION

·         You must be a paid-up member of the Irish Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers.

·         There is no entry fee.

·        Your submission must be made using weaving, spinning or dyeing. Please specify on the label which crafts you used, i.e, weaving, spinning and/or dyeing plus any other textile crafts you used and which fibre(s)/yarn(s), and the breed of sheep/alpaca used/ plant fibre used, as applicable.

APPLICATION

·         The Application Submission deadline is now Tuesday the 12th August, 2025 (extended date). To prepare the exhibition signage, all applications (not the actual item) must arrive to the Guild Secretary before midnight on Tuesday the 12th August, 2025.   The application must include a photo of the artwork and the following information:

Name of the Guild member:

County where member resides:

Brief artist introduction,

The title of the piece

A brief note on the inspiration for the piece,

Dimensions in cm,

Equipment used (eg, which loom/wheel/dyes, other textile craft tools used),

Materials and fibres/yarns used

Sheep /alpaca breed or type of plant fibre used.

Indicate if the piece is for sale, or if you are willing to make commissions, and if so, supply your email address for display on the label.  

Send your application to the Guild Secretary at hello@weavespindye.ie and remember to include a photo of the work.

DELIVERY OF PIECES

·         Pieces need to be ready to be hung with hooks or wire on the back or with hooked velcro, and should be delivered to one of the specified drop-off points by Sunday, the 24th of August, 2025. Frames can be used. 

The delivery points are planned to be in Limerick and Dublin City.

·         The show is non-juried, but the IGWSD Committee reserves the right to refuse artworks.

  • All artworks must stay in the exhibition space until the end of the exhibition.
  • This is a display only exhibition, not a selling exhibition. If you want to, you can indicate on the label of your piece that the piece is for sale and you can provide an email address, as follows: “This piece is for sale. Contact the maker at ……”
  • You can also indicate that you are willing to make pieces on commission.
